Tiramisu Cake

This may not be the most authentic recipe, but it is still as close as it can get. I've been looking for a good Tiramisu cake recipe for a long time, have been reading a lot of them and this happens to be what I understood is the basic technique followed. This is my second cake experiment ever, but trust me, it is good.. :)

For the cake:
1. Cake flour or All purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups
2. Milk - 1/4 cup
3. Vanilla Extract - 1 tsp
4. Eggs - 3 yolks and whites separated
5. Powdered brown sugar - 3/4 cup
6. Unsalted butter - 4 tbsp melted
7. Salt - 1/2 tsp
8. Baking powder -  1 tsp
For the coffee syrup:

1. Strong brewed coffee - 1/2 cup
2. Sugar - 1/4 cup
3. Kahlua (coffee liqueur) - 8 tbsp

Preparation: Mix all the above ingredients until the sugar is fully dissolved and keep aside.
For the Mascarpone Frosting:

1. Heavy Whipping cream - 1 cup
2. Icing sugar - 1/4 cup
3. Mascarpone cheese - 8 oz

1. Whip the cream until stiff peaks are formed. Add sugar and mascarpone and mix with a spatula until well incorporated.

For dusting:

1. Cocoa powder

1. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt and keep aside.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. Melt butter, mix it with milk, add vanilla extract and keep aside.
4. Mix egg yolks and sugar from medium to high speed using a blender until pale thick ribbons are formed. This would take about 10-15 mins.
5. Beat the egg whites well until stiff peaks are formed (you could also add 1 tsp cream of tartar to the egg whites). This would take about another 10 mins.
6. Mix in the sifted flour mixture and milk mixture with a spatula.
7. Butter the baking dish (I used a small loaf pan) and pour the mix into it.
8. Bake for 20-30 mins or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
9. Remove from the oven and let cool.
10. Cut the cake into 2 pieces horizontally.
11. Spread the coffee mix onto each cake piece and let sit for 5 mins.
12. Spread the icing onto the first cake layer. Dust with cocoa.
13. Keep the second layer on top of it and add another layer of icing. You could also cover the whole cake with icing gently using a spatula.
14. Dust with cocoa powder.
15. Refrigerate for an hour before serving.

Enjoy! :D
