Collard Greens Dal Curry




Ingredients: 

1. Masoor Dal  - 2 cups 
2. Collard greens - 1 bunch, finely chopped
3. Tomato - 1 big, chopped
4. Onion - 1 big chopped
5. Garlic - 5 cloves, finely chopped
6. Green chillies - 4-5 chopped
7. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp 
8. Red Chilli powder - 1 tsp 
9. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp 
10. Black Mustard seeds - 1 tsp 
11. Dry red chillies - 2-3 
12. Curry leaves - 1 spring
13. Salt - To taste

Method: 

1. Wash and cut the collard greens and keep aside. 
2. Wash the dal a few times, add double the amount of water and ingredients 2-9 cover and cook for about 20 minutes or until the dal becomes completely mashed. 
3. Remove from the heat and keep aside. 
4. Heat oil in a small pan. Splutter mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves and pour over the dal. 

Serve with warm rice or rotis.
